Courage To Do The Inner Work Through COVID-19

Updated: Jul 12, 2020

"In the stillness of the quiet, if we listen, we can hear the whisper of the heart, giving strength to weakness, courage to fear, hope to despair" Dr Howard Thurman

Welcome to the Self-Isolation edition of Let's Heal Together.

How are you travelling?

It's been an intense, challenging, transformative and triggering few weeks for many.

In between travelling well I've had a meltdown and a day of being overwhelm, but have been calm and focused most days.

It's my birthday on Saturday and some of you will know that birthdays are a big deal for me. I love to acknowledge and celebrate my birthdays and they are usually marked by a dinner or a party of some sort.

This year I was going to have an intimate dinner with a few friends at Bodhi, a vegan restaurant in Sydney's Hyde Park.

I found myself thinking about how I could celebrate this birthday in the context of our current circumstances. I also began to reflect on how I could honour the lead-up to my birthday. A part of me wished that I could retreat, pull away from my physical life and responsibilities and go deep within.

The next day I was listening to a podcast where the presenter pointed out  that Corona means crown. She explained that in Roman times a Corona was a crown or garland that  was given for distinguished service.

I began to think about the link between the Corona and the Crown chakra.

Situated at the top of the head, the Crown chakra is associated with divinity, our higher self and transcendence. It challenges us to transcend our limiting beliefs and invites us to become our most actualised self.

The quality of awareness that comes with the Crown chakra is universal and it can be our gateway to enlightenment.

Many teachers, therapists and mentors have being saying this, and I had ask myself the same question again - "What if the gift of the Corona or crown virus was this precious time to take some much needed time out, and to go deep inside and access the wisdom of our higher nature?"

And to take it further - do I have the courage to accept the emotional and spiritual challenges this corona or crown virus presents?
